Job Summary and MissionThis job contributes to Starbucks success by actively designing and executing the overall global coffee sustainability strategy for Starbucks Coffee. This role will develop the sustainability strategy to meet our company commitments around carbon/ water reduction and improve farmer livelihood (economics/ social) as well as data/reporting framework including establishing reduction targets, building systems and methodologies to track and verify. Additionally, this role will manage all compliance related expectations such as getting us ready to meet regulations, upleveling our verification programs.

- Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
- Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the company.
- Independently convenes working teams and leads strategic projects against key priorities, including pilots or strategy development.
- Advises senior leadership on progress and issues.
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results and meaningful impact.
- Represents sustainable coffee/cocoa with cross-functional organizations such as Investor Relations, Public Affairs, Marketing/ CMP and Channel
- Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
- Supports the integration of sustainability and social impact strategies into Starbucks Global Coffee and Cocoa plans.
- Collaborates with the business units functional areas in identifying issues and developing strategies, programs, and metrics to monitor impact and results. Develops multi-year operating plans, annual budgets, and quarterly forecast updates.
- Plans and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
- Recommends methods for proactively addressing relevant social impact issues impacting or potentially impacting the Company and key stakeholders.
- Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
- Drives, influences, and informs the Global Coffee and Cocoa sustainability and social impact agenda with partner, customer, community and stakeholder insights and financial analysis/business modeling.
- Develops programs, communications, and structural support to reinforce Starbucks leadership with external stakeholders.
- Identifies and develops strategic relationships on behalf of the Company with the appropriate non-governmental organizations, non-profits, and public agencies. Proactively builds relationships and strategies to scale impact with others.
Partner Development & Team Building
- Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams:
- Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to achieve partner, business, and customer results.
- Global Farmer Fund
- Design and execute against the Global Farmer Fund strategy:
- Building relationships with NGOs, Supply Chain Partners, Impact Investment Organizations, and multi-party platforms (Sustainable Coffee Challenge,) to generate pipeline of new funding opportunities that advance Starbucks sustainability commitments.
- Coordinating between Farmer Support Center network and existing partners to align technical assistance with C.A.F.E. Practices and to share best practices and generate new ideas
- In coordination with the Agronomy team, identify and scale solutions for soil nutrition with low environmental impact for farmers in C.A.F.E. Practices supply chains in partnership with suppliers.
- Determine key technology unlocks for farmers, implement pilot programs and scale successful initiatives.
- Develop and implement traceability systems compliant with international regulations.
- Design the five-year strategy and annual operational plan for cocoa sustainability including:
- Alignment between cocoa and coffee sustainable sourcing strategies (i.e., voluntary sustainability standards, capacity building, farmer support, etc.).
- Partner closely with Global Supply Chain and industry stakeholders to advance sustainability and sustainable livelihoods.
The successful candidate should have the following experience:
Experience and Qualifications:
